Whether you are visiting Sarasota or live here, you may have noticed that we have several 'walks' scheduled each and every month. Typically on a specific Friday night of every month, they take place in one of our various 'Arts Districts' and usually happen between 6 and 10 pm. Some walks attract quite a few visitors and each venue is completely different from the others. It's always fun to check out the art, but it's also a great way to become familiar with various Sarasota neighborhoods and the interesting architecture you'll find in each.......

On the first Friday of every month, you'll find many of the shops and galleries in the Palm Avenue and Main Street areas of Sarasota open until at least 9 pm. This is, I believe, the oldest running 'gallery walk' in Sarasota.

On the third Friday of each month, the area known as Towles Court is open from 6pm until 10pm and showcases the work of several artists as well as having various other retail establishments, all open late. Coming this Fall (2006) Towles Court will have three fine restaurants to choose from as well.

The Burns Court area of Downtown Sarasota has previously scheduled walks on the second Fridays of each month but they have not been scheduled as regularly as the other locations.

And the Rosemary District over off Central Avenue has started their own gallery walks....more info about them later as I find it.....
